Films games … how much bitterness does this phrase cause. How unpleasant it is for a gaming ear. After all, how many times it was so that the game made based on films turned out to be, if not a terrible game, then a definitely second -rate product. Unfortunately, the game made based on the famous comedy “One Home 2” did not escape this fate. The success of this film was so stunning that the developers simply could not help but release the game on this film, and they wanted to make it not only because of their selfish goals, but also because the fans of this film asked to make it for a long time. We all remember how terrible the game was “alone” for NES. And then the players hoped for a long time and waited for the day when a good game came out based on such a wonderful comedy. Well … we were waiting for her, and we got her. In 1992, then the young one, then, the company, ThQ released the multi-platform game “One at home 2”, and a flurry of criticism immediately collapsed addressed to it. Many critics called this game the worst sequel of the year, ordinary gamers scolded it in vain. Subsequently on YouTube, many ordinary people considered it their duty to lower it below the baseboard, and on the GameFaqs website, the game still has a rating of 1.3 points. Well, if I admit, I had this game, and I can understand why people hated it so much, because in my childhood I often threw my joystick on the floor, because “one house 2” caused me a lot of negative emotions, and also caused a desire to throw a cartridge with a game from the window. However, after many years, I decided to return to her and reconsider my views. And so I went through her. Well, what can I say. This project turned out to be unambiguously passing, but whether the game has earned such a low rating and so much anger? No, I did not deserve it. Still, the old woman Nintendo has projects in her collection and worse, and call “one at home 2” garbage at least unfairly.
And in my small review, I decided to put all the dots over "and". So, in my opinion, this game can be praised for an infinitely long time and scolding it endlessly. Firstly, it can be praised for the fact that she was very carefully treated with the original source and implicitly follows the main storyline. And the fans of the film should definitely please. All the main scenes of action, such as a hotel, wandering through the streets, an abandoned house, a final fight under the Christmas tree, are preserved here. For this game, you can definitely throw a plusk in a piggy bank of advantages. Secondly, some levels are connected with each other by various videos, which is definitely beneficial for the general narrative. And this is definitely good. Thirdly, the key characters of the film are easily recognized in the sprites of most characters. For this, you can also put the test of the game, because we do not have to rack your head, trying to guess who we see on the screen of our TV. Most decorations to the levels look good and can definitely please an inexperienced gamer. For this, the game can also be praised.

And this is definitely the advantage of this project, because the original material was a film. Secondly, most sprites in the game, that is, model models, are painted large and detailed. Moreover, against the background of adults, Kevin’s model looks really like a child’s model, and not like a sprite of a stocky young man. The advantages do not end there, for the set of enemies who want to grab Kevin, vast. And for this, artists can only be praised, because to draw something like that, using the capabilities of Nintendo, is very, very problematic. But with the scenery at the levels here is also a complete order. They are painted large and beautiful, and, to be honest, the drawing of the backdrops almost always pleased my eye. Why "almost always"? Yes, because the artists in some places frankly cheated. For how else to explain the fact that the scenery of the hotel looks like this:

Most of them look faded, sloppy, dull, not alive, and what is most terrible, they are amazingly boring, and most likely you will squeeze them. Believe me, you rarely will have a desire to watch the video posting until the end. But that’s not all. “One at home 2” is a comedy, which means that the videos should be funny, but here they can only call a smile on your face, and then, only because when watching these same videos, you will immediately remember the film.
You just look at this squalor. All colors are either faded or erupted. Kevin hangs in the hands of a robber like some kind of inanimate toy. The accuracy of the drawing also suffers. It looks wretched. And I would not have so many complaints about videos, if not one but – Ninji Giden, who came out much earlier, the videos were made many times better! This is, firstly, and secondly, in the yard it was already 1992, carried out its last years, and 16 weary consoles ruled in the video game in a video game, so adding such videos to the game was unforgivable!
Now it is time to describe the music that will accompany us throughout the trip. And here the game clearly cannot boast of anything. The music here is faded, inexpressive, and sometimes even boring. The soundtrack of this game did not cause me any emotions. And the whole problem is that the developers thought that atmospheric music is more suitable for their game than independent, memorable melodies. I will explain my point of view. Atmospheric music is the music that tries to cause various sensations and feelings of the player, both pleasant and awkward, terrible. And everything would be fine, but as practice shows, most of these melodies for games are not only monotonous and boring, but also cause a player despondency with the subsequent desire to turn off the sound of the TV. And what can we say, the company’s clearly not brilliant composers sat in the company, because they could not create something intelligible, due to the fact that they stepped on the same rake that other composers stepped on atmospheric 8 biting music. The second problem of music in this game is that the quality of reproduction of sounds here is very bad. I’ll say right-some melodies in this game made me feel that my ears were about to turn. Such a quality of reproduction would have gone in the second half of the 80s, because the console in those days was new, and therefore many composers simply did not know how to work with a sound chip. But it was 1992, there were already many examples of excellent 8 bit music (remember at least Robokop 3, or Journey to Silius), and therefore such a sound quality, to put it mildly, is not excusable. The music is average here. She is not bad, but expect much from her.
So, I wrote about music and graphics. It is time to talk about the most important thing, about what we most appreciate the games of 8 and 16 bit consoles. It’s time to talk about gameplay. And as I already said, here we will be forced to take a walk at the main places of the film. At the levels we will be forced to fight various enemies. So, on the streets we will have to defend ourselves from all kinds of hooligans, and the hotel will have to avoid meetings with various things, as well as avoid meetings with other people who work there. In an abandoned house, we have to show the robbers where the crayfish winter, as well as weaning them from their harmful "profession". There are also interesting findings for your time. So, for example, in an abandoned house we will have to interact with things that are scattered there. I also want to praise the developers for the fact that in the arsenal our young adventurer has many things, and part of this arsenal consists of those things that Kevin used in the film, for example, windfire and beads. Let’s move on to the description of the weapon that our Kevin has. The first special weapon is a toy pistol. Each of his shot stops the enemy for a few seconds. The second weapon of our boy is an ordinary wind gun. We can kill some opponents to them. Does not act on all opponents. So, for example, it will not work on a couple of robbers. The third weapon is beads. This secret weapon of each bully is intended to overturn people who do not look under their feet. For such a diverse arsenal you can praise the developers. Also, for 5 yellow triangles, we will be given one additional life. Also, pressing the button up will either force Kevin to ask for help or make him use the elevator. It all depends on the situation in which you are. In principle, the platform part here is typical for all platformers of that time, but the game design itself is made in places very crooked. Firstly, the entire gameplay of this game is built on the use of various things. Yes, Kevin can fulfill his only “tackle” technique, but there is only one small but – it is practically useless, because the number of enemies on which the “sales” may work is small. In addition, the game will brutally punish you if you used this technique on the wrong enemy. How? The enemy will simply take you by the scruff and you will lose your life. This is uncorrect! And therefore you will have to actively use various things from your arsenal. And here is my second and most importantly “but” – the game will skimp give you a good supply of weapons. Starting from the second level in caches from weapons, you can only find a pistol, which means that the remaining reserves of the weapon will end sooner or later, and you will not have the opportunity to restore them. But not only is there always not enough weapons in the game and at the end of the game you can simply get stuck due to the fact that you completely spent it, this weapon is still so hidden. In order to find it, you need to jump on various furniture, starting with flower pots, ending with garbage tanks. And I still forgot to say that you need to jump in a certain place (for example, on the edge of the sofa) otherwise the thing may simply not fall out. It is cruel! Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention one weapon. The game has a double -barreled wind gun. Than it is so remarkable? Yes, the fact that it needs to be used in one fat man in the kitchen. You have only one charge. And God forbid you use it ahead of time, since otherwise you will not be able to go through this place, because the double -barreled steamer is no longer found in the entire game, but you can’t go back. And all that you can do is to commit suicide. And do not forget that you must find this special gun, because it is also hidden. This is ruthless! I have already said that this game is extremely unfair to its player and in addition gives nothing in return? He said? Well duck remember one more thing. There are no first -aid kits in this game that will make up for your health, but what is a first -aid kit can be called. Instead of all kinds of heelings there are red balls here. Jumping from left to right to these beams still half of trouble. But to determine the exact place of landing during jumps to the left – this is already a separate song. And all because all the decorations of the floors are drawn flat, but the beams are painted in isometry. Plus, besides, your character’s feet should stand in a tutel to stand on a beam. If you miss a hundredth of a millimeter – you are a dead man. Plus at this level there is Backtracking. I will explain in what form it is present here. At the very beginning of the level (floor) there are two doors: one of the one from which you came out, and the other locked on the castle. The key to this door is at the very end of the level and when you took it, you must go back to the beginning and never fall, since if you fall, the key will not be preserved, and you will need to make the whole way again, from beginning to end. But the developers clearly reveled in their "genius". Different construction garbage falls over some cliffs with beams, which takes your health and prevents you from doing normally. This is sadism! But on this the "genius" of the comrades of the developers was not limited to. In the same abandoned house, on each of the floors there are many doors where, theoretically, you can go. And you want to laugh? You know what awaits you there? TRAP! A trap from which you will need to get out, and in these same traps there are beams and robbers familiar to us who sleep and see how to refresh us. Why create such secrets in which not only is nothing good for you, you can drain your life there yet!? May I repeat? This is sadism! You can’t play with the natural desire of the player to explore your game. And in the beginning, the game actively encouraged the study of the rooms, but in the middle of the game she decided to change the rules. Also, the desire of developers to mock the player manifests itself in other features of this creation. Some items are abandoned in places that you, in principle, will not reach.
